The St. Joseph Police Department earlier this month conducted a targeted traffic enforcement along the Belt Highway in an ongoing effort to reduce crashes and improve safety for drivers on the roadway.
St. Joseph Police recently released the results of the traffic operation. The operation was held along the Belt Highway, according to St. Joseph Police, due to it being one of the cities highest crash corridors. The operation conducted on July 10th resulted in 41 traffic stops, 11 citations and 33 warnings the St. Joseph Police Department reports. Citations were issued for violations of.

- Seatbelt violations (2)
- Driving while suspended or revoked (1)
- No valid driver's license (1)
- Illegal left turn (1)
- Expired driver's license plates (1)
Meanwhile warnings were issued for many of the same violations

"Our priority along the Belt Highway, and across all of St. Joseph, is simple: save lives," Chief of Police Paul Luster says in a news release. "High-crash areas demand proactive policing. Every stop made, whether it results in a citation or an educational warning, serves as a direct reminder that safe driving is a non-negotiable standard in our community."
