Betty Jean Wagner 1927 - 2024

Betty Jean Wagner, 96, of Atchison KS died on Tuesday, Feb. 13,2024, at Amberwell Atchison.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Craig Lantz and Rev. Robert J. Kaczmarek officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home that is entrusted with her services. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.Betty was born on Dec. 21, 1927, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Frank & Lillian (Pharris) Lindsey. She attended grade school in Effingham, KS, graduated from the Mount St. Scholastica Academy in 1945 and attended Atchison Business college. She was employed by the Snowden-Mize Drug Company then in the office of Dr. James P. Brown, DDS, followed by Drs. Spencer Fast, Robert E. Fast, John Growney and Wayne O Wallace, MD, spending 35 years in the medical field, ending as Medical Office Manager. She was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening flowers, and raising vegetables. She was very modest, but she was also very creative and sang on the radio and was invited to sing at the Grand Ole Opry in her younger years.  She was married to Raymond F. Wagner on Jan. 31, 1946, in Atchison, KS. Mr. Wagner preceded her in death on May 9, 2012. Survivors include two daughters Mari Jo Brown, KC, Mo, and Amelia Ann (Jerry) Kaczmarek, Atchison, KS, six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Her parents, four brothers Claude, Frank, Ralph, and Kenneth Lindsey and four sisters Leola M Haupt, Cecelia Morgan, Estella McGuckin, and Isabelle McConnaughey preceded her in death.
