Multiple arrests after 18-year-old shot in Chillicothe

LIVINGSTON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a shooting that sent a teen to the hospital.

In the early morning hours Sunday, police initiated an investigation following a shooting incident that led to one victim being hospitalized, according to a media release from the Chillicothe Police Department.

Just after 2a.m. officers were alerted to an 18-year-old gunshot victim who had been transported to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Criminal charges against the hospitalized individual are pending and will be filed at a later date. A male acquaintance of the victim was taken from the hospital to the Chillicothe Police Department, where he was subsequently taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation, Chillicothe Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop that led to the discovery of evidence related to the shooting. The vehicle's driver and her child were transported to the Chillicothe Police Department, where the child was later released to a family member. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist, including Chillicothe Police Department, Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol

Following the initial investigation, officers executed a search warrant in the 400 block Walnut Street in Chillicothe. As a result of the investigation, one adult female and one adult male have been transported to Caldwell County Detention Center and placed on a 24-hour-hold pending the following requested charges Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

A vehicle believed to be connected to the incident has been secured as evidence and is being processed by law enforcement officials.
