JEFFERSON COUNTY —Nine people were injured in an accident just after 5:30p.m. Monday in Jefferson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Toyota Highlander driven by Xavier Hernandez, 19, Atchison, was westbound on U.S. 24 and turned south onto Lecompton Road in front of 2010 Kia Soul driven by Mikael Deyvon Owens, 26, Kansas City, Kansas.
EMS transported Hernandez, Owens, and passengers in the Toyota Abram John Phillips, 19, Olathe; Caleb Leapheart, 19, Katy, Texas, Chimemela J Okorafor, 23, San Bernadino, California, and passengers in the Kia Zibung, Anita Gayle Zibung, 35, Lawrence, David Lee Anthony, 28, Kansas City, Missouri, and a 3-year-old boy from Lawrence to Stormont Vail in Topeka.
EMS transported one passenger in the KIA identified as 35-year-old Jessica Arnold of Lawrence to KU Medical Center. All nine were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
