Besides his boys who always came first, a love of his was coaching summer baseball. He coached all his son’s teams through the years and assisted them at times when they all coached their children.

He loved woodworking as a hobby, and he and Donna spent time at various craft shows selling his wooden items and he loved visiting with the other crafters while there. One of his loves after retiring was teaching a toy woodworking class at summer Vacation Bible School at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He was a farmer by heart and worked on his farm and worked off the farm. He worked at General Motors in Fairfax, KS BOP Plant. He helped to form the Boy Scout Troop #744 of Edgerton in the 70’s and served as assistant scout master. He and his boys attended Camp Geiger Boy Scout Camp and was a member of Tribe of Mic-o-say with Wagonmaster as his Native American name.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and was a member of the Dearborn Chrisitan Church. Later he moved his young family to Edgerton in the later 60’s where he rededicated his life to Christ and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. His young sons each accepted Christ and joined the church.
