Ivan W. Thompson, Jr., 72, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
He was born April 15, 1952 in St. Joseph to Ivan W. Thompson, Sr. and Anna (Puckett) Thompson.
On August 20, 1996, Ivan married Jeannie Marie Bosher. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Ivan was baptized at Calvary Christian Church in St. Joseph and later attended Dearborn Christian Church.
He had been a salesman, carpenter, and owner/operator of the Red Rooster Bar.
While going to casinos was one of Ivan’s favorite things to do, he also enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He loved movies and going on long walks. He liked to spend time with family, especially his granddaughter Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and favorite uncle, Curtis Puckett.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jeannie; children, Shelly L. Rogers (Joel), Anna Wheeler, Tammy Hornbeck (Matt), and Chip Thompson (Jennifer); stepchildren, Melissa Buckler, Brenda Vasquez (Donaldo), Debbie Norris and Mark Bozeman; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Dean Thompson (Eva) and Shelly Kay Mayo; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
