MSHP: NW Missouri teen fell into deep hole before drowning

GRUNDY COUNTY —Authorities  investigating a drowning in Grundy County released additional details on Wednesday.

Just after 11 p.m. Monday, Marine Troopers assisted Trenton police with a report of a possible drowning in the Thompson River, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A 17-year-old boy from Jamesport was walking across the Thompson River near SW Beech Lane. He fell into a deep hole, went under the water and did not resurface.

The Trenton Volunteer Fire Department recovered the body. The boy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim identified as a 17-year-old boy from Jamesport was recovered by the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The MSHP released no additional details early Tuesday.
