Jacob D. "Jake" Bichelmeyer 1975 - 2020

Jacob Cainen Bichelmeyer, 44 passed away in his Hiawatha, KS home on Thursday, June 25.  

Jake was born on December 16, 1975 in Lawrence, KS to Matt Bichelmeyer and Robin(Lattie)Bichelmeyer.  He grew up in the Western Shawnee /Lenexa area until he was 15, then the family moved to Tonganoxie, KS. Jake enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers.  He also loved to play the guitar just like his Dad.  He often talked about wanting to be a park ranger.  He loved animals and had a special place in his heart for dogs, of which he had many over the years.

 Jake married Joanna Finch in June 1997, and together they had two daughters, Bailey Jo and Riley Ann.  Jake helped  his Dad in both his Grocery store  and later in his Steakhouse, even helping with the transition from one to the other.  He also had many other jobs throughout his life, such as flooring installation, construction, meat cutting, tree-trimming, and he was a member of the Laborers Union.  In 2015, Jake married Sherry Lyn Jones.  They lived together in Hiawatha, KS with their two dogs, Louie and Lola.  Sherry and Jake were very much in love.

 He is preceded in death by his Father, Matt Bichelmeyer.

 Jake is survived by his wife, Sherry of the home, two daughters Bailey and Riley of Tonganoxie, KS, a stepdaughter Tara Coffelt of Oregon, MO, a stepson Christopher Smith(Lacy) of Dearborn, MO, his Mother Robin McKinzie (Gary) of Olathe, KS, one sister, Jenny Hipsher(Tony) of Shawnee, KS, two step-brothers Hunter Dean and Parker Dean of Kansas City, 2 nieces, Jordan and Macie and two Stepmothers, Vicki Selby and Randi Bichelmeyer.

 A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 26 at 1866 Bar and Grill in Tonganoxie from 2-3pm for the family.  Friends may come from 3-5pm.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Jacob Bichelmeyer Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, who is assisting the family.
