Dustin Blake “Dusty” Saunders, 32, of Fanning, Kansas, passed away on January 29, 2026.
Born on December 22, 1993, in Atchison, Kansas. He grew up in Highland, KS and graduated from Doniphan West High School, Highland, KS with the class of 2012.
On September 3, 2013, Clarissa Billups and Dusty were blessed with the arrival of Koder Braun Saunders. Dusty worked for several local companies throughout his career, including Taylor Seed, KDOT, Urban Construction, Triple L Tire, and Consumer Oil. Through these roles, Dusty built strong connections and contributed meaningfully to the community and people around him.
Above all else, Dusty was a devoted father to his beloved son, Koder. He cherished every moment they shared, especially their time together in the outdoors. Whether teaching Koder to fish or hunt, Dusty found deep joy in passing down traditions and celebrating milestones—like the pride he felt when Koder harvested his trophy buck. Some of their happiest days were spent boating with family and friends on the Mighty MO, where Dusty was truly in his element. Among Koder’s most treasured memories are the quiet evenings they spent side by side, watching Dusty’s favorite movie, Cinderella Man.
Dusty's passions extended beyond fatherhood. He enjoyed fishing and hunting year-round and had a special talent for cooking and smoking meat—often bringing people together through food and laughter. His warmth and smile made gatherings memorable for all who joined him.
He is survived by his son Koder Saunders of Highland, KS; parents Lane and Michelle Saunders of Highland, KS; brothers Joshua Saunders (April) of Topeka, KS, and Trevor Saunders (Robyn) of Robinson, KS; grandparents Linda and John Alfrey of Highland, KS; as well as many cherished uncles, aunts, nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Dusty was preceded in death by his grandparents Bobby Dean Miller and Bill and Carolyn Saunders.
