Marcia Lucille Everett 1944 - 2023

Marcia Lucille Everett, 79, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Sunday, July 9, after a three-year battle with ALS. Marcia was born Marcia Lucille Russon in Los Angeles, CA, on March 24, 1944, to John and Mary Russon.

 On April 17, 1971, she married Richard Everett, then a Captain in the US Army, in the Los Angeles temple. Together, Rick and Marcia raised five children as they travelled the country, making a home wherever the Army sent them. They have lived in Leavenworth and then Kansas City since 1992.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved stepmom, Lyn “Nani” Russon and three brothers, John Kimball Russon, David Russon, and Steve Russon. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rick, her children and their spouses, Laurie (David) Jacobus, Alison (Niel) Campbell, Emily (Kevin) Garlock, Mary (James) Thompson, and Bradley (Kate) Everett and her 14 grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Ann (Ted) Everett, John Henry (Annie) Russon, Mary Ellen (Dennis) Larson, brother-in-law Arthur (Susan) Everett and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marcia had the gift of making everyone she met feel welcome and loved. She was someone who never met a stranger and made friends everywhere. She was a talented florist, seamstress, and homemaker. She was also a beautiful singer. She loved to travel and spoke fluent German. Marcia earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University and served a church mission in Switzerland with her parents before she married. She also served with Rick in San Diego, CA, after they raised their children.

She held numerous volunteer leadership positions for local congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was always available to help those in need. She will be remembered for a lifetime spent in the service of others.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 17, 2023 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Liberty Stake Center, 6751 NE 70th St, Kansas City, MO  64119. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 10 A.M. at Liberty Stake Center, 6751 NE 70th St, Kansas City, MO  64119.
