A joint local law enforcement operation overnight that targeted fleeing vehicles resulted in 92 traffic stops.
The St. Joseph Police Department reports its officers along with those from the Buchanan County Drug Strick Force and the Missouri Highway Patrol participated in the operation that used a helicopter flying over the greater St. Joseph area. The Andrew County Sheriff’s Department and the Elwood, Kansas Police Department played supporting roles.
The St. Joseph Police Department reports 92 traffic stops were made along with eight attempted traffic stops.
Officers made 16 arrests, two on city warrants, eight on state warrants, and six investigative charges on various offenses. Six vehicles attempted to flee, but were stopped and the drivers apprehended. Officers issued 39 verbal warnings, also.
