Guy Arthur Humphreys, known to many simply as Guy, passed away on May 3, 2026, in Country Club, Missouri, at the age of 75.

Guy was born on April 23, 1951, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Roy and Millie Humphreys. He was a man whose life was marked by generosity, optimism, and friendship, and he carried those qualities with him in every season of life. Those who knew him will remember his warm smile, his easy manner, and the genuine interest he showed in the people around him. He had a way of making others feel welcome, valued, and at ease, and that gift of connection became one of the defining traits of his life.

Guy graduated from Central High School and later attended Northwest Missouri State University, where he earned a degree in Psychology. While at Northwest Missouri State, he also played on the golf team, an experience that reflected both his athletic ability and his lifelong love of the game. Golf remained an important part of his life for many years, not only as a sport but as a source of friendship and enjoyment. It was one of the passions that shaped his identity and brought him lasting fulfillment.

After completing his education, Guy began his post-graduate career as a golf professional at Sedalia Country Club before returning to St. Joseph to serve in the same role at Fairview Golf Club. His knowledge of the game and his natural ability to work with people made him well suited to that profession. Following his years as a golf professional, he began a long and successful sales career with Hillyard Industries, where he remained for the rest of his working life. He earned numerous sales awards throughout his career, but perhaps his greatest accomplishment was his ability to build lifelong relationships, whether in business or in his personal life. People trusted him, enjoyed being around him, and remembered him for the sincerity he brought to every conversation and every commitment.

Guy’s life was also deeply enriched by the love he shared with his wife, Ann Thompson Humphreys. They were married on March 31, 1979, in St. Joseph, Missouri, and together they created a life filled with laughter, hospitality, and enduring devotion. In September of 1980 they welcomed Jake, the pride and joy of their lives. If one word could capture their home, it would be welcoming. No matter where they lived, the party was sure to follow, and all were welcome. Their door was always open, and their home was a place where friends and family gathered freely and often. Guy and Ann shared a bond that was evident to everyone who knew them, and their marriage was a central and cherished part of his life.

If Guy could be summed up in three words, they would be golf, hunting, and entertaining. He enjoyed the outdoors, the camaraderie of shared experiences, and the simple pleasure of bringing people together. Entertaining came naturally to him, and he took great joy in being surrounded by family and friends. Guy and Ann especially enjoyed hosting the Thursday night Invitational party while being lifelong members of the St. Joseph Country Club. Among the many joys in his life, spending time with his granddaughter Elizabeth was the highlight of his day. He cherished her deeply, and the love he had for his grandchildren was evident in the pride and happiness he felt when speaking of them. His family meant everything to him, and he treasured every opportunity to be present in their lives.

Guy was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Ann Thompson Humphreys, and by his parents, Roy and Millie Humphreys. He is survived by his son, Jake Humphreys, and Jake’s wife, Stephanie, as well as his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jayden. He also leaves behind his siblings, Roy Humphreys III and his wife Jane, Ellen Zillner and her husband Tom, Bill Humphreys and his wife Cindy, and Dan Humphreys and his wife Mechele, along with numerous nieces and nephews. His family will carry forward his memory with love and gratitude for the example he set.

Guy Arthur Humphreys will be remembered as a generous, optimistic, and friendly man whose life was defined by loyalty, warmth, and an unwavering appreciation for the people around him. He built a life of meaning through hard work, enduring relationships, and a spirit that made others feel at home. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and fond remembrance to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
