Gordon Wilson, 93, St. Joseph, Missouri, a beloved husband, father, and granddad, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025.

He was born February 23, 1932 to John L. and Martha A. (Drummond) Wilson in Civil Bend, Missouri.

Gordon was united in love with his sweetheart, Betty Lou Wilson, on October 22, 1955. Their marriage spanned an impressive 69 years until Betty Lou's passing in 2024.

In service to his country, Gordon proudly wore the uniform of a Corporal in the United States Army, operating with distinction during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Following his military tenure, he transitioned to a career with MFA Feed and Grain for 15 years and then later worked for Dean Machinery Caterpillar for 27 years.

Gordon enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading, watching his favorite westerns, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals. An avid follower of the news, Gordon always stayed well-informed. He was affectionately known as the "Wilson Taxi", he was the reliable chauffeur to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those closest to him were well-acquainted with his humorous ritual of scanning the obituaries each morning, a moment of reflection he approached with his characteristic blend of wit and humility.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha; wife, Betty; grandson, Michael Wilson; and a great-great-grandchild, Carter Smith; brothers, Vernon Lloyd Wilson (Mary), Virgil Austin Wilson (Lois), Dale Randal Wilson (Katherine), and Bobby Wilson.
