The Bishop LeBlond girls' basketball team capped off a busy week with a win in their home tournament championship Wednesday night.

The Eagles (11-1) got off to a hot start, sinking five three-pointers in the first quarter and eight total in the first half, riding that momentum in a 66-34 win over Plattsburg in the LeBlond tournament championship at Grace Gymnasium.

This comes after the LeBlond girls finished runner-up in their home tournament to Savannah last year.

"It's definitely really exciting," senior Sloan Lewis said. "I mean, we came here last year and fell short. So, to get it done this year means a lot and it just shows what we can accomplish with this team that we have and that everyone contributes to the game."

Leading 41-15 at halftime, LeBlond held Plattsburg (5-6) in check defensively through the second half, holding the Tigers to just six made field goals in the second half.

Senior Kianna Herrera, who finished the LeBlond tournament with a combined 63 points, dumped in 18 more Wednesday. She made a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter as a cherry on top in the victory.

Sophomores Kyla Conard and Tatum Studer each finished with 11 points. Junior Katie Beam contributed seven.

"It feels nice to have everyone back and everyone connecting well," Conard said. "We have really been putting in a lot of work this week. So, it just feels nice to play together and get going, and we're ready to keep going and keep winning."

Senior Savannah Bingham led Plattsburg with 19 points. Freshman Alexis Meyer added seven. The Eagles also beat the Tigers in state sectionals this past March, 47-32.

Plattsburg returns home to face Braymer on Jan. 4. LeBlond is at Mid-Buchanan on the same day.
