Annual Southside Festival two weeks away

The popular Southside Fall Festival at Hyde Park is two weeks away, bringing vendors, crafts, and family fun to the southside of St. Joseph for a weekend.  

The 37th annual festival begins on Friday, September 18th and runs through Sunday, September 20th. Opening ceremonies for the festival begin at 5pm on the 18th, hosted by Donita Swafford.  The festival will feature more than 50 vendors for residents and people to find a variety of items they might like.  The annual parade will take place on September 19th, beginning at Kovac’s Fireworks and ending at Cherokee Street, running rain or shine.  New this year, cash prizes are being awared to the top three best decorated entries with first place winning $200,  second place $150, and third place $100.

The weekend prior to the festival, the 10th annual royalty  Contestants will be in four different divisions, including mini, little, junior, and teen, ranging from four to 13 years old.   Check-In on the 12th will run from 10:30–10:50am with the contest beginning at 11:00am.  More than 30 prizes will be awarded to the contestants.
