Two people are confirmed dead after a single-engine aircraft was found crashed in Grundy County.
The Grundy County Sheriff's Office confirmed Tuesday night that the men killed in the crash were a father and his adult son, both from the St. Louis area.
The small plane went missing overnight Monday and was found Tuesday afternoon near the town of Galt.
The search had been focused earlier Tuesday near Humphreys in Sullivan County.
Law enforcement says an aircraft disappeared from radar around 10 p.m. Monday.
The Grundy County Sheriff's office was contacted by the Sullivan County Sheriff Tuesday morning, regarding the possibility of a downed aircraft in eastern Grundy County.
Grundy County Emergency Manager Glen Briggs tells the Post a white, single-engine Cessna airplane with red stripes was en route from near Moberly and was last reported near Humphreys in rural Sullivan County on Monday afternoon.
It's believed the plane departed from Saint Louis Monday night. Authorities say it landed in Moberly before taking off for Kirksville Regional Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
