Cecil LeRoy Leiby, Jr.
Only son of Cecil L. Leiby and Hazel Arthula Leiby (nee’ Harvey) born 4/2/1942 in Kansas City Kansas passed on 7/1/23 at home.
A graduate of Northeast High School, Cecil attended U.M.K.C., married in 1963, and two children were born of that union. He worked as a branch manager for Household Finance in Dubuque, IA and moved the family back to South Kansas City in 1969. He then worked for Swingster Apparel, and Koch/Multivac, and completed his bachelors degree from Friends University, then completed his M.B.A. at Baker University in 1993. Cecil then took a brief engagement with AmerisourceBergen before retiring in Smithville, MO.
He played guitar in his youth, was an Eagle Scout and member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Cecil loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, managing his farms, and watching the Chiefs. He was remarried in 1988 to Kay and enjoyed traveling and telling stories about trips with friends and family to Europe, Russia, Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind his wife, Evelyn (Kay), of Smithville, MO. Also surviving are son, Jerry (Vicki) of Sugar Grove, IL, daughter, Christine (Jeff) Carver of Grain Valley, MO, and stepson Travis (Kristen) Martinez of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren Savannah Leiby of Great Falls, MT, Zoe Leiby, stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejune, NC, Jeffery, Jr, (Ashley), Oak Grove, MO, Michael (Heather) Carver of Independence, MO, Chaeli Carver, Grain Valley, MO; Regan Martinez at MU; and great-grandson Oliver Carver.
Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO.
Burial: Park Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
