The Maysville softball team scored four runs over the final two innings on their way to a 4-0 win over La Plata in Saturday's Class 1 Softball Championship in Springfield Saturday.
The Wolverines finished an impressive season with a 27-4 record.
La Plata had bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning in a scoreless game, but sophomore and starting pitcher Hailey Lemunyon forced a ground out to end the threat.
In the sixth, Rylie Boyer hit a triple to deep center, and scored on a throwing error to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. Boyer finished with two runs and two hits.
Maysville scored three more runs in the top of the seventh to go up 4-0. La Plata got nothing going in the bottom of the seventh.
Lemunyon allowed just three hits against two walks and seven strikeouts in the complete game shutout victory in the circle. At the plate, Lemunyon managed three hits, including two being triples.
This is Maysville's third state title in softball - the last coming in 2018. The Wolverines finished third at state in 2019 and won its first title in 2013.
