A pair of drug raids in St. Joseph led to the arrest of 13 people on Tuesday.
The Buchanan County Drug Strike Force and St. Joseph Police Street Crimes Unit combined on the raids, serving multiple warrants at two separate locations in St. Joseph.
At the first location near Gene Field and Woodbine Roads, officers arrested four people, and then arrested nine more in the second location at 29th and Charles Streets.
Only three of those nine arrested were wanted on the original warrants The other six were found to have other outstanding legal issues on various charges.
"They located more subjects in that second location," Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett said. "Part of that dealt with other crimes and other outstanding warrants. So, they were doing all of that while responding to calls and doing all of the normal things."
Law enforcement also seized guns, money, methamphetamine and heroin during the raids Tuesday.
"They both were high-value (raids)," Puett said, "as it results with arrests and seizure of drugs and illegal guns. At the second location, they found a lot more people there, and multiple people had outstanding arrest warrants from multiple jurisdictions."
Puett credits their partnerships with St. Joseph Police and other agencies around the county in making raids like these possible.
"This is how we're more effective," Puett said. "We're able to get things accomplished by working together for the betterment of our community. A lot of this couldn't be accomplished without our partnerships with our fellow agencies throughout northwest Missouri."
