Three new coronavirus-related deaths have been reported by the St. Joseph Health Department as it records a slight increase in the Buchanan County COVID-19 positivity rate.
St. Joseph health officials report one woman in her 90’s and two in their 80’s died after contracting COVID-19. Buchanan County’s death toll stands at 203.
Buchanan County has recorded 210 new COVID-19 cases since last reporting on Monday with 65 reported on Thursday, 94 on Wednesday, and 51 on Tuesday. Buchanan County has recorded a total of 13,335 cases since the pandemic began. The county positivity rate is 14.86%, up nearly half a percentage point from last week.
Mosaic Life Care reports it is treating 52 COVID-19 patients in its system; 51 in St. Joseph and one in Maryville.
Andrew County health officials report 10 new coronavirus cases, 91 in the last seven days. Andrew County reports it has 202 active cases with a total of 2,562 since the pandemic began with 25 coronavirus-related deaths.
Doniphan County, Kansas reports a total of 1,176 COVID-19 cases.
The death toll from COVID-19 in Missouri has now topped 10,000. The state health department’s coronavirus dashboard on Thursday showed 20 new deaths, bringing the total to 10,002 since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020.
Nationally, more than 615,000 Americans have died from the virus. Deaths have been rising again in recent weeks due to the delta variant, and it has been especially troubling in southwest Missouri. New cases and hospitalizations also are at their worst levels since the winter.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports 344,937 total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, resulting in 5,357 deaths.
