Amity, Missouri……. Carl Dean Perkins , age 81, passed away on July 31st, 2024, at his home.
Dean was born on March 27, 1943, to Wyatt A and Dora Perkins. The Perkins family moved to Amity in 1948 from Starfield, Mo.
He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. After his service, he began his journey as a lifelong self employed mechanic. He started working at his garage in Amity in 1969. He continued working for over 50 years until he was physically unable. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of engines, automotive mechanics and was able to fix things others deemed unfixable. His pride and joy was accumulating parts for his never ending list of projects. Over the years he enjoyed deer and coyote hunting, drag racing and collecting lawn mowers.
Until his last moments, Dean was still attempting to acquire more pieces and parts from his visitors in his final days.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents Wyatt A. and Dora Perkins, his brothers Kenneth, and Charles and his sister Dixie.
He is survived by his two sons and their families: Sam (Monica) Perkins, and Nik Perkins. Two grandsons, Patrick Greer and Isaak Perkins. He is also survived by his siblings, Leon Perkins, Ann Anderson, and his steadfast ever present companion, his brother Larry Perkins.
In lieu of funeral services, Dean asks that everyone change their oil and check the coolant in your vehicle.
