Since their only loss to Mid-Buchanan in the North Platte tournament championship on Jan. 30, the Mound City boys' basketball team (28-1) has reeled off 11 straight wins and are now headed to the Final Four.
The Panthers had no problem in their quarterfinal game Friday, winning at Orrick 61-30.
Junior Tony Osburn, who's already exceeded 2,000 career points this season, dropped in another 28 in the victory.
The Panthers, seeking their first state title in boys' basketball since 1981, will face St. Elizabeth (18-6) in the semifinals on Friday, Mar. 12 at noon at JHQ Arena in Springfield.
The Class 1 boys' championship is Saturday, Mar. 13 at 2 p.m.
In Class 2, the North Andrew boys have reached the Final Four for the second time in four years. The Cardinals (22-8) extended their win streak to six games, defeating Lakeland 62-58 in Clinton Friday in quarterfinals.
Tanner McDaniel scored 22 points in the victory, while Owen Graham dropped in 16 and Hayden Ecker had 12, including nine from three-point range.
North Andrew, who has finished third at state three times before, faces Salisbury (22-2) in semifinals on Thursday, Mar. 11 at 3 p.m. at JHQ Arena.
The Class 2 boys' championship is on Friday, Mar. 12 at 2 p.m.
