Juanita Cook May 30, 1929-January 27, 2026

Juanita “Coco” Cook Thomas, 96, of Edgerton, MO passed away, January 27, 2026.

She was born on May 30, 1929 to Don Simpson and Addie (DeMoss) Cook. Juanita grew up in Edgerton and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1947.

In 1965 she was united in marriage to Herman Brandt and moved to District Heights Maryland where they lived for several years. They returned to Edgerton to be with family and Herman passed away in 1980. In 1989 Juanita married Bernard Thomas. After their marriage they made their home in Edgerton. Bernard preceded her in death in 2004.

Juanita was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was baptized in 1942. Juanita never had any children of her own but had many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She enjoyed fishing, playing cards with the Wednesday fun and fellowship crew, and spending time with her family. Juanita was an avid animal lover and loved her two beloved cats Stella and Sugar. She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden, reading, and feeding the birds.

Juanita was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clarence Cook; sister, Mary Jones; and her niece, Lisa Jones.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Curt (Linda), Riley, Charlene, Darla (John), Kathy (Dwight), Karen, Donnie (Brenda), Misti (Lonnie), Kevin (Mitzi), Ryan (Michelle), Renada (Brad), Gary, Adam, Resa, Cami, Bobbi (Darren), Julie, Sarah, William, Emilee (Cody), Addie, Caleb, Alexa, Jack, Gracie, Linny, Tristan, Creek, Gracyn, Landen, Mason, Lyla, Daisy, Dane, Dylan, Johnny, Lilli, Liam, Reece, Caroline, Louie, and Lane.

Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31st at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.Burial: Union Mill Cemetery, Edgerton, MO.
