The Missouri Western State University volleyball team remained at No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Assocation/Taraflex Division II Women's Volleyball Poll.
In the polls, released on Monday, MoWest received 827 points and holds its program-best No. 8 national ranking for a second consecutive week. The Griffons are 12-1 overall and 2-0 in MIAA play. Four MIAA programs are ranked inside the Top 25, led by No. 7 Nebraska Kearney. MoWest follows at No. 8, with Washburn ranked No. 15 and Emporia State at No. 17. Central Oklahoma and Central Missouri are receiving votes after being ranked No. 22 and No. 25, respectively, in last week's poll. Ferris State remains No. 1 in the country with 45 first-place votes and a 12-0 record. Wayne State (Neb.) sits at No. 2, followed by No. 3 Tampa, No. 4 Fresno Pacific and No. 5 Concordia-St. Paul.
The Griffons opened conference play with a pair of sweeps inside the Looney Complex over the weekend. MoWest defeated then-No. 22 Central Oklahoma in straight sets on Friday before completing the weekend with another 3-0 victory over Newman on Saturday. MoWest returns to the Looney Complex on Friday for the final match of its 10-match homestand, hosting Northwest Missouri State University.
