Anna Belle (Mettz) Anderson, 98, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at Faith Cottage Memory Care, Basehor, Kansas. She was born on July 18, 1927, in Marshall, Oklahoma to Leslie Fremont Mettz and Effie Viola (Shepard) Mettz. She was joined in marriage to Alvin Albert Anderson of Crescent, Oklahoma on May 11, 1946. Alvin had just returned from service in the US Navy during World War II. After their first meeting, Anna described him as “a handsome young sailor.”
Anna was the loving wife of a sailor who later became a soldier. She and their five children followed him around the world, and she held down the fort while he was away at war in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. She established and ran her own successful business as a medical transcriber, Mrs. A’s Typing Service, and was an avid square dancer in her younger days. However, nothing ever distracted her from her number one priority of caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin and her oldest son, Ronald Alvin, whose wife Brenda resides in Edmond, OK. Anna is also survived by three sons, Wayne Alan (Deborah), Leawood, Kansas; Larry Dean (Carol), Tonganoxie, Kansas; Paul Reuben (Lynn), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and daughter, Leslie Ann Nickels (Marvin), Lansing, Kansas. Anna is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The family wants to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Faith Cottage and especially Jessica, Heather, Stephanie, Katrina, and Elizabeth for the loving care they provided for our mother and grandmother. We will forever be grateful.
Private services will be held at a later date.
