Kan. man in bed of pickup injured after crash during U-turn

BROWN COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just after 5p.m. Wednesday in Brown County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Toyota Tundra driven by Blake M. Toribio-Butler, 25, Midwest City, Oklahoma, was northbound on U.S. 75 just south of 290th Street.

The Toyota struck a 2011 Ford F150 driven by Cosetta D. Frankes, 45, Horton, who was northbound on U.S. 75 and was making a left U-turn. Both vehicles came to a rest on the roadway.

EMS transported a passenger who was in the bed of the Ford identified as  David M Smith, 50, Marysville, to the hospital in Sabetha.

Frankes, Toribio-Butler and two other passengers in the Ford were not injured. Frankes and Smith were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
