
JEFFERSON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a fatal boat crash on a lake in northeast Kansas and made an arrest.
Just after 6p.m. Sunday, sheriff's deputies and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks staff responded to a report of an injury collision at the Slough Creek arm on Perry Lake between Perry Marina and the Slough Creek bridge, according to a statement from Jefferson County Sheriff Timothy Bacon.
The crash involved jet skis, according to an online fundraiser for the woman who died identified as 22-year-old Hannah Heflin of Olathe.
The two individuals involved in the crash were part of the same party and knew each other. Heflin, who was wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident was immediately brought to shore by members of the same party.
Kansas Wildlife and Parks officers arrested Carter Page, 20, of Atchison, connection with the crash on a requested charge of vehicular homicide, according to online jail records. He was booked into the Jefferson County jail just before 10:30p.m Sunday and met the requirement for bond and no longer in custody.
