Valeeta K. (Juergensen) Soltys, 72, resident of St. Joseph for over 50 years, passed away January 10, 2025 in Lawrence, Kansas.
She was born August 31, 1952, in Great Bend, Kansas to Helen (Smith) and Andrew Juergensen.
Valeeta graduated from Ellinwood High School class of 1970. She earned a B.A. Degree from MWSU and a M.A. Degree from NWMSU in Maryville.
Valeeta proudly served her country in the U.S. Army Reserve for 20 years as a SFC E7 Ammunition Specialist. She also served on active duty during Desert Storm. She was a member of the American Legion Post #287 in Savannah, Missouri. Valeeta was employed by MWSU for 25 years serving as Assistant Registrar and Coordinator of Veterans Affairs.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters Valorie (George) and Virginia, brother Vernon (Dana), niece Lindsey (Scott), nephew Jared (Stephanie), grandnieces and grand nephew.
Ms. Soltys has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Inurnment and Committal with Full Military Honors at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
