Royce Daniel “Danny” Adkins was born on February 7, 1949, in Leona, Kansas. He was one of fifteen children born to his deceased parents Maude and Frank Adkins, with his twin sister, Joyce, arriving alongside him. His dad said when they came out in twos, it was time to stop.
Danny proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army, where he served as a scout and a tanker. During his service, he received the Purple Heart.
In the 1970s, Danny moved to California, where he lived for approximately 20 years working in construction and running his own business. Later, he returned home to Kansas to be closer to family and friends. He went on to work for the Doniphan County Road and Bridge Department for 20 years before retiring in 2012, though he continued to help part-time whenever they needed him.
Danny married the love of his life, Terry Adkins, January 17, 1985. They shared 41 years of marriage and 42 years together.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Adkins; his children, Bonnie Adkins (Robert Hixson), Michelle Woods (Donnel Woods), Charlotte Lambert (Rocky Murry), and Clint Lambert; his siblings, Delbert, Cleo, and his twin sister Joyce; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his 12 siblings and his son, Patrick Adkins.
