A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the entire area.
The Weather Service expects 4 to 7 inches of snow throughout northwest Missouri, northeast Kansas, southeast Nebraska, and southwest Iowa. Snow has begun falling throughout the area, but the heavy snow isn't expected until midnight. The Winter Storm Warning officially begins at midnight and runs until 9pm on Wednesday.
The Weather Service says travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
Missouri Western State University has already announced its St. Joseph campus will be closed Wednesday due to the expected winter weather and hazardous road conditions.
Northwest Missouri State University has closed its campus in Maryville today.
The St. Joseph School District had already scheduled a professional day with students not expected to be in class on Wednesday. St. Joseph Catholic Academy has canceled classes today as has St. Joseph Christian School.
Savannah R3 Schools have closed all campuses. Savannah will follow its AMI Day schedule. All Preschool and elementary students should finish Snow Day Packet #3. Middle and High School students should access their assignments via Canvas.
Riverside USD 114 is closed today.
