Ray Gene Furst, of Cosby, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, and is now home with his Heavenly Father.
Born on February 8, 1949, to Earl and Evelyn Furst, Ray was a proud graduate of Savannah High School. He went on to study Animal Science at Northwest Missouri State University.
In November of 1982, Ray married the love of his life, Janet. Together, they shared many wonderful years.
Ray was passionate about his work as a hog farmer, and he was known for his impressive skills on the fast-pitch softball field. He was also deeply committed to his community, serving in several leadership roles, including as Andrew County Commissioner, a board member of Andrew County PWSD #2, and as an agent and board member of the Andrew County Mutual Insurance Company.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Evelyn Furst; his sister, Cindy Furst; and his grandson, Daniel Furst.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Furst; children, Scott Furst, Jasen (Lanea) Furst, Spencer (Emma) Furst, and Melissa Hillyard; grandchildren, Caroline, Lane, Jacob, Hadley, and Brylee; his brother, Kenneth Furst; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Cosby Zion Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
