Joanne Lucille ‘’Robertson’’ Stewart 1926 - 2025

Joanne Lucille (Robertson) Stewart, age 98, died January 3, 2025, at a care facility in Liberty, Missouri.

Joanne was a native Missourian, born on September 29, 1926, near Fillmore, Missouri, and lived in Savannah, Rosendale, Kansas City, Jefferson City, Gladstone and Liberty over the course of her long life. She attended high school in Jefferson City and Savannah, graduating from Savannah High School in 1944. She married Robert G. “Speck” Stewart on August 1, 1946, and together they raised three daughters – Martha (Robertson), Amelia (Hankins) and Sarah (Morrison) – and a son, Robert Guy.

She was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at First Christian Church in Savannah; First Christian Church, Jefferson City; and Hillside Christian Church, Kansas City. She instilled a deep and abiding love of music in her children. Her varied career as a working wife and mother included long tenure at Maple Park Junior High School in the North Kansas City School District, and with the Missouri State Water Patrol in Jefferson City.

Joanne was a devoted friend and listener, sought-after bridge partner, and avid fan of televised sports. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Alexander Doniphan Chapter, in Liberty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Speck, and daughter, Amelia; by her mother and stepfather, Martha F. (Wright) and Guy O. Huckstep; and by her father, Reed Robertson. She is survived by daughter Martha, daughter Sarah and son-in-law David Morrison; son Robert and daughter-in-law Karen; grandchildren Kate (Hankins) Alnutt, Andrew Hankins, Patrick Morrison, Julie (Morrison) Vickey, Janna Stewart and Travis Stewart; and nine great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her nephews Stewart Cline and Clark Seabaugh, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins in her Stewart, Robertson and Wright families.

Joanne’s family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staffs at The Gardens at Barry Road, Ignite Medical Resort, Liberty Health and Wellness, and Harbor Hospice for the loving care provided in her later years.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are suggested to Hillside Christian Church, 900 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119.

Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Savannah Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
