ATCHISON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on a weapons violation.
On April 30, police responded to a disturbance in the 700 Block of Parallel, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.
It was determined that during the disturbance a 20-year-old man had been in possession of a handgun which police recovered.
On June 7, police arrested Dwayne A. Nixon, 20, Atchison, for possession of a firearm by a felon. An investigation determined that Nixon has a felony conviction in the State of New Jersey, according to Wilson.
