Jean Anne Rausin, 81, a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, MO passed away peacefully on Monday April 8, 2024.
She was born on October 5, 1942 in St. Joseph, MO., to her parents Nora (Jackson) and John Rausin. Jean Anne was preceded in death by both her parents and her God Son, Cody Harter.
She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1960 and began work soon after for the Missouri National Guard. Jean Anne worked as a civilian worker for 41 years as an Administrative Assistant for the Wing Commander at the 139th Airlift Wing in St. Joseph, MO. Her job allowed her to travel, receive numerous awards, and recognition for her dedication and hard work.
When Jean Anne retired they honored her by naming the auditorium in the Administrative Building, Rausin Auditorium. She acquired numerous friends and colleagues that turned into family during her time at the base. She continued to meet with many of them after her retirement for monthly lunches. After retiring she enjoyed her part-time positions at Rod’s Hallmark and Kirkland’s.
Jean Anne was an avid animal lover and had numerous dogs over the years that were her children. Over the years she made many donations to the St. Joseph Animal Shelter and to Friends of the St. Joseph Animal Shelter. Jean Anne loved watching old western movies, especially ones with John Wayne, and going out for ice cream.
A memorial visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 PM, on Wednesday evening , April 24, 2024 at the Heaton Bowman Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, it was Jean Anne’s wish that donations be made in her remembrance to the Friends of the St. Joseph Animal Shelter.
