A new website being launched by the Missouri Department of Public Safety along with the Missouri Highway Patrol will allow citizens to report suspcious activity easier.
The website, Show-Me-Shield will also provide a new access point to the Courage2Report platform. The site replaces the already existing Missouri Safe Nation app and is currently available to the public online to be used at www.showmeshield.mo.gov.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the national “See Something Say Something” initiative used to encourage the public to report potential terrorist-related suspicious activity, Show-Me Shield is where Missourians may report unusual items or situations they encounter, people attempting to elicit information at a level beyond simple curiosity about a building’s purpose, as well as the buildings operations, security measures, and personnel working in the building. Law enforcement will determine whether the behavior warrants additional investigation.
Along with the Safe Nation App, the HIghway Patrol also announced the new website would be the access point to its Courage2Report school violence and anti-bullying hotline will now be accessed here, or by visiting www.courage2reportmo.com. Courage2Report will receive tips online or by calling 1-866-748-7047. Tips will continue to be handled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by trained professionals.
The Courage2Report and SafeNation apps have been deactivated and will no longer be monitored.
