Missouri Western State University has announced it will extend its closing due to the extremely cold weather through tomorrow.
MWSU closed its St. Joseph campus today due to the bitter cold temperatures made worse by plunging wind chills well below zero.
Both Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville have cancelled on-campus classes for today.
MWSU says online classes should be held as scheduled. In-person classes may be conducted in a virtual environment at the instructor's discretion.
The Maryville campus of NWMSU is closed with the Northwest-Kansas City campus in Gladstone also closed. Only the dorms and dining halls will be open on the Maryville campus.
The St. Joseph Public School District is off today for President’s Day.
