Jim Lee Bartlow, 82, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away October 9, 2025. Jim was born May 24, 1943 in St. Joseph to Charles and Nora Bartlow.
He graduated from Lafayette High School and served in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam.
Jim worked as a firefighter in St. Joseph for 29 years.
On May 14, 1971 he married Christina Szczepanik, who survives him. He is also survived by their three children: Merri Beth Means (Jeff), Jaime Cortez (Mike), and Charlie Bartlow; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons, his brother, Jerry Bartlow, and his in-law the Szczepanik family.
Jim was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He loved sports and was a lifelong Missouri Tigers Fan. Until his illness, he rarely missed his grandchildren's activities and enjoyed talking about all the great things they were doing in their lives.
Visitation will be Monday, October 13, 2025 from 11:00 to 12 noon. The Rosary will be recited beginning at 12:00 noon, and will be followed by a funeral service at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Inurnment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
