Tuesday starts a big week of state competition for area athletes in our coverage area.
Tuesday marks the first day of state wrestling at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, with girls’ state wrestling up first. We’ll be following 11 wrestlers from the KFEQ/St. Joseph Post coverage area.
At 102 pounds, Cameron’s Ashley Yamat. At 107, Lafayette’s Isa’Bella Mendoza. At 112, Benton’s Lexi Peterson. At 117, Mid-Buchanan’s Haley Sampson. At 122, Cameron’s Christina Filley. At 132, Lathrop’s Jordan Diercks. At 137, Benton’s Tatum Levendahl. At 143, Lathrop’s Josie Wright. At 151, Plattsburg’s Payge Fuller. And at 174, Cameron’s Hollie Hedgpath.
First round matches start at 9:30 a.m., quarterfinals at 11, wrestlebacks at 12:45, semifinals at 2:45, third and fifth place matches at 4:45 and championship bouts at 6:30.
