Edward Lloyd Betz, 92, of Kansas City, MO passed away December 7, 2025.

He was born on December 20, 1932, to Edgar Norris and Florence Mary (Millard) Betz in Independence, MO where he grew up. Ed moved to Moberly, MO with his father when he was a teenager and graduated from Moberly High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army.

On July 8, 2004, he was united in marriage to Julie (Taylor) Payne. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City where they made their home together. They loved spending time at their lake home in the Ozarks.

Ed retired from KCP&L after 40 years of service as a lineman. He was a member of the Northland Cathedral and was also a 40-year member of the Abdallah Shriners Chapter 30 in Overland Park, KS. Ed was an avid rodeo enthusiast and helped with the Shriners Rodeo every year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Rita Betz; his step-son Dave Payne and his mother-in-law Bessie Taylor.

Ed is survived by his wife Julie Betz; his daughters Cheryl McCreery, Kim (Chuck) Shirley and Tammy Betz; granddaughter Shelby (Anthony) Rosen; step-son Kenny (Jessica) Payne; step-grandchildren Emma, Mary Anne, and Sammy Payne; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 17th at Northland Cathedral 101 NW 99th Street Kansas City, MO 64155.
