John Randolph Blakley 1944 - 2025

John Randolph Blakley, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025.

He was born on March 3, 1944, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to David and Lula Blakley.

Familiarly known as "Big John" by his loved ones, he lived a life full of heart and kindness, encapsulating the true essence of love.

A proud graduate of Central High School in 1962, John further expanded his education with a year of college, gearing him with the knowledge he would carry throughout his life. He also dedicated his lifetime to the family business: Blakley Trash Service.

John cultivated a life rich with passions. His hands brought beauty to the earth through his love of gardening, and his joy in cooking and cleaning provided comfort and warmth to those around him. His affinity for animals showed his gentle and caring nature.

He enjoyed the vigor of football and basketball in his younger years. Those fortunate enough to know John experienced his unwavering support, as he never hesitated to assist his family with their needs. Admired for his remarkable memory, he carried a wealth of treasured stories.

Faith played a pivotal role in John's life as a devoted member of Hope Fellowship Church. John's life came full circle as he passed away peacefully in the very town that witnessed his first breath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Donald Lula and Paul Blakley.

His legacy of love and steadfastness will live on the hearts and memories of all who knew him and on his survivors, that include his sisters Freda Dyche (Steve), Mary Blakley Gorman (Roger) and Susan Blakley; his brothers David Blakley Jr. (Jayne), Leo Blakley (Rev. Dr. Dorothy), Daniel Blakley, Addison Blakley, George Blakley (Rebecca), Robert Blakley (Laura), Isaac Blakley, Ronald Blakley (Melody), Roger Blakley and Michael Blakley (Debra); as well as his sister-in-law Doris Blakley and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Ashland Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
