The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that will be in effect throughout this evening, and health officials are urging residents to take precautions.
The Heat Advisory in effect from noon to 10 pm. Area health officials are advising residents to take precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses. Extreme heat could cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
United Way of Greater St. Joseph also posted a list of cooling centers and emergency shelters available for the public.
