Robert L. Dolton, 88, St Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Sunday April 28th, 2024 in hospice care at Living Community of St. Joseph.
Robert (Bob) was born February 22, 1936 to Alice Lee and Cecil Voorhies. He was adopted at the age of three by his aunt and uncle, Lester and Helen Dolton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Kay Dolton (Beck).
Surviving family includes daughter DeLisa DeLay - Branson MO, Stepchildren Cory Beck - Elwood KS, Colleen Sherwood - Topeka KS, Kelly Beck – Port Arthur TX, Carla Landwehr - Platte City MO, and Karen Young - Newland NC, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob graduated from St Joseph Central High School in 1953 and later served in the US Army. Bob worked in St. Joseph for Bob Douglas Construction, Armour & Company Packing Plant, Land Construction Company, and J&L Drywall.
The family will gather with friends from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. Friday May 3rd at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Chapel, St. Joseph. Graveside service and burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery, Highland KS.
The family wishes to extend deep heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Bob’s neighbors Paul and Connie Turnbull along with Mark and Marlene Czerwonke for their compassion, kindness, friendship, and assistance helping Bob over the years.
