Mary Lou Castle, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2024, at Vintage Gardens in St. Joseph.
Mary Lou was born August 22, 1934, in St. Joseph, to Hanna and William (Bill) Nold.
She worked in the Andrew County Clerk and Recorders office and was a member of the Savannah United Methodist Church. She married Charlie Castle on August 12, 1955 and they were happily married for 63 years.
Her hobbies included gardening, reading, antiquing, and watching her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Above all, she loved spending time with her family and is the reason behind so many of the cherished family traditions that are still a fundamental part of the Castle family today. She was deeply involved in her grandchildren’s lives and will be fondly remembered for always having their favorite ice cream and cookies on hand - which she rarely said no to.
Surviving Mary Lou are: children, Kirke Castle (Roxie), Kim Morgan (Jason), Kevin Castle (Dianne); grandchildren, Jason (Kelly), Jayme (Jesse), Jarod, Marnie, Max; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Hadlee, Cutler, Sadie, and Hanna.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel in Saint Joseph, Missouri. A brief service will follow.
