The Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art's Bad Art by Good People fundraiser event is coming to an end later this week, culminating with a cocktail party and auction at the museum.
The event brings together prominent members of the community and pairs them with local artists to make art pieces. The art pieces have been voted on for the last month, with each vote counting as a donation towards the Albrecht Kemper
Director Eric Fuson says the event will wrap up this Thursday with the cocktail party and auction at the Albrecht Kemper celebrating all the artists.
"Where we bring all the art that everybody made in and auction it off, just a really fun evening," Fuson says on the KFEQmunnity show. "Kind of low key but just really a lot of fun to support the artists, the artist mentors, as well as the museum."
Online voting for the event will remain open until around an hour before the cocktail party and auction, which runs from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, and can be voted on by clicking HERE. Some artists created multiple pieces that will be auctioned off during the event.
"For example, Amy Voltz went down with Dave Harris downtown at the Hand to Hand studio and had never thrown pottery before, and before you knew it I think she had four or five pieces she knocked out," Fuson explains. "So, what we do on something like that is we'll put them up for bids, whoever wins that they get to pick one of them and then we kind of go down and say does anybody want another one of these for the same, so it really helps raise some extra money."
Along with raising money for the Albrecht Kemper, artists will also receive awards for their work based on the online voting portion.
"If you say hey, I want to put $50 towards this person, just put that in, because we do it both popular vote and we do it by the amount raised, so we give two awards out for the participants," Fuson says.
