Terry James Winget, 75, passed away on January 23, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on January 5, 1949, to James Winget and Betty (Kreps) Morgan in Clarinda, Iowa. He graduated high school from College Springs, Iowa in 1967.
In 1968, he was drafted into the Army where he served 2 years before suffering a life altering injury. He spent 4 months in the Landstuhl, Germany hospital before being honorably discharged. This never slowed him down in the workforce. He was known as a dedicated, hard worker.
He met and married his best friend, Martha. From this union 4 children came along. Heather (Greg) Mayer, Desiree (Trevor) Leeper, Ashley (Nathan) Guthrie, and Anthony Winget. Along with 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Although the world sometimes saw him as a grouch, the memories his children hold tell a softer side of him. Heather will always cherish the memory of their first pizza date to Bedford. Desiree will never forget Dad spending hours rescuing her kitten from a pipe. Ashley , Dad's favorite (by her admission only) was his sidekick for most of her childhood. She will treasure all their adventures. Dad's best boy , Anthony will always remember his first experience hunting with Dad and all their time spent together.
We imagine that Dad is coming in from a morning of hunting, he's splitting wood, sipping on his peppermint schnapps to keep the cold away. He's settling down at the little house waiting for his best friend, our mom, to come home.
