An 18-year-old St. Joseph man faces charges in Kentucky, accused of crossing the state line and sexually assaulting a minor.

Owensboro police arrested Caleb Newell after an investigation accused him of engaging in multiple sexual acts with a 12-year-old.

The Owensboro, Kentucky Police Department reports officers found Newell sleeping in a vacant Owensboro residence early Wednesday morning. An investigation led the department to accuse Newell of traveling to Kentucky to have sex with a 12-year-old girl he had met online.

Newell is in the Daviess County jail, charged with 2nd degree sodomy, 2nd degree rape, as well as criminal trespassing, and providing a false name.
