Stanberry, MO: Lorraine Helm-Higgins, 83, of Stanberry, MO (formerly of Lenox, Iowa) passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at a St. Joseph, MO hospital.
She was born November 24, 1940 in Adams County, Iowa the daughter of Lowell Rush and Margaret (Spring) Wilson.
On October 8, 1961, she married Fred Helm in Lenox, Iowa. They moved to Stanberry in 1988. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2007. Then on October 24, 2010, she married Joseph Higgins.
Lorraine worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Stanberry, MO. Lorraine was also a member of P.E.O. and Order of Eastern Star. She was very talented in crocheting, making homemade pies and especially making candy platters at Christmas.
In addition to her first husband, Fred, she was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leland Wilson.
Survivors include her husband, Joe, of the home; her children, Scott (Darla) Helm, Creston, IA, Doug (Vicky) Helm, Mt. Olive, NC and Dina (Ronnie) Thomas, Albany, MO; step-daughter, Candy (Kevin) Hankins, Dearborn, MO; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Osiecki, Arapahoe, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.
