Lester Robert Garton Jr. 81, of DeKalb, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 in DeKalb. He was born September 20, 1942 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Josephine and Lester Garton.
He attended Bethel School and graduated DeKalb High School in 1961. He married Caroline Wilson in Rushville, MO. He served in the Army. He worked at KW Dart and Northwest Pipe as an assembler. In his younger years he was an avid water-skier and enjoyed boating. Bob was a man of few words, but was always a very kind and handy guy. He enjoyed mowing the yard on his John Deere, he loved Nascar, his dogs, and Dale Earnhart Sr.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Justin Gould, and brother, Roger "Manny" Garton.
Survivors include: wife, Caroline Garton of the home, son, Michael Garton of DeKalb, MO, daughter, Melissa (Travis) Domann of Dearborn, MO, sister, Barbara (Curtis) Gould of Faucett, MO, granddaughters, Sloane (Tyler) Bryan of Valley Falls, KS, and Lillie (Chris) Gast of Valley Falls, KS, and great-grandson, Carrson Bryan.
Graveside Funeral Services with Military Honors were held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Westlawn Cemetery in DeKalb, MO.
