Michael Curtis Moore died June 16, 2023 peacefully at home in St Joseph, MO, surrounded by family.
Born September 23, 1946 in Newbourne North Carolina, Raised in Savannah MO, Graduated from Savannah R-3.
Married Joan Kempa in 1965, had 3 children during that marriage, Rhonda, Steve, and Jeff. They later divorced, April 1, 1984. Mike met his best friend and Soulmate Tanya, and they married June 15, 1996. They were blessed with 39 years together, married for 27 of those years.
Mike worked for Volkswagen, Polskys, and the Saint Joseph Police Department for 41 years, starting off as a patrolman and then working his way to Detective and then retiring as a Municipal Court Bailiff for Judge Boeh.
Mike enjoyed camping, fishing, taking vacations, waxing his cars, sitting on the porch with his dog (favorite child)
Delilah, and watching the birds and squirrels, spending time with his family and friends, watching the Chiefs play with Tanya and friends, going to Rosecrans to help Ralph work on airplanes, hoping to obtain his pilot’s license one day, going to airshows with his grandson Aaron, playing Keno at the casino with Tanya, and going to the dirt track to watch the races.
Mike could sit and watch westerns all day long, especially anything with John Wayne. Mike was a big jokester who loved to laugh and make others laugh. Mike loved to tinker in his garage and could work on almost everything. He really was a jack of all trades.
Preceded: both parents, Robert and Dorothy, an infant brother; nephew, Ryan Newcomer and a granddaughter, Michaela Moore
Survivors: wife; siblings Steve (Rita,) Moore, Doug (Verena) Moore, Toni Newcomer.
Children: Rhonda (Scott) Jones, Steve (Jeanne) Moore, Jeff (Sonie) Moore, Jennifer (James) Nolan, and Jeremy Wardlow; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration of Life 1:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, July 2, FOP Hall, 621 S. 36th St. Use front entrance; food will be provided.
