St. Joseph Health Department reports 46 new COVID cases in Buchanan County

St. Joseph health officials have reported 46 new COVID-19 cases in Buchanan County since last Thursday - 22 of those were reported Monday.

While there were no new fatalities in that time, the test positivity rate in Buchanan County has gone up from 4.97 percent to 8.63 percent.

There have been 122 new cases reported in the county over the last seven days. The number of those hospitalized with COVID has also gone back up.

Mosaic Life Care now reports 14 COVID-19 patients in its system - 13 in St. Joseph and one in Albany.

The vaccination rate is still low in Buchanan County, and the rate has been very slow to rise. Just 20.7 percent of the population has initiated vaccination, while 18.8 percent have completed it.

In Andrew County, over 4,300 residents have completed vaccination - about 24.3 percent of the county's population.

Over 1,700 people have completed vaccination in Doniphan County - that's nearly 26.8 percent of their population. Doniphan County has reported only four new cases in the month of June.
